Editorial standards
The commitments that govern DGTLPPL reporting, editing, independence, corrections, and the use of technical tools.
Last reviewedAccuracy before speed
We verify material claims, distinguish observation from inference, and give readers enough context to understand what is known, uncertain, or disputed. We do not publish unfinished claims to win a news cycle.
Independence and conflicts
Editorial decisions belong to the newsroom. Funders, advertisers, subjects, and commercial partners do not receive approval rights. Relevant financial, personal, or organizational conflicts are disclosed with the work.
Sources and evidence
Public sources are linked when practical. Confidential sources are used when the information is important, cannot be obtained another way, and the source is positioned to know it. Editors review the identity and risk of protected sources.
AI and automation
Tools may assist research, transcription, organization, and production. They cannot approve, publish, or distribute editorial work. Material automated assistance must be reviewed by a person and disclosed when it changes how a reasonable reader would judge the work.
Corrections
We correct material errors promptly, preserve the public correction note, and avoid silently rewriting the record. Send a specific concern to corrections@dgtlppl.com.
